Confluences – Knowledges, Ecologies, Temporalities - This is the title of the opening event of Confluences – Journal of Critical Latin American and Caribbean Studies, taking place on October 26, 2026, at Freie Universität Berlin.

We are excited to host a full-day event featuring a keynote by Denise Ferreira da Silva, and exploring how thinking-with-confluences can enrich decolonial, feminist, and broader critical approaches to diverse wetland ecologies in Latin America, the Caribbean, and beyond — while also asking about the scope and limits of such approaches.
